Best Summer Activities To Do In Whistler
After living in Whistler for 4 years, across 4 summers, there is a lot I have done in the warmer months. Some amazing, some less amazing...
As you may have already guessed, I'm a massive fan of the outdoors and those cheaper activity options, which Whistler is perfect for! You could spend a whole summer of unforgettable experiences without spending too much. So, here is my list of the best activities to do in Whistler during Summer (with a preference to those less expensive options).
Whistler Mountain Hiking
With an extensive network of hiking trails on both mountains, there is an almost endless amount of hiking you can do here in an entire summer! Combine it with the very handy lift access and you have one of the best ways to enjoy the mountain air while taking in the sights at a slightly slower pace.
Chase Waterfalls
Whistler is home to some epic waterfalls and with easy access to most them, there's no reason not to go for a little hunt. Pictured below is probably the most popular, Brandywine Falls. Located on the southbound side of Highway 99, it's pretty hard to miss this epic waterfall.
Don't forget to check out these other waterfalls - Alexander Falls, Rainbow Falls, Nairn Falls and Shannon Falls located in nearby Squamish.
Harbour Air Sightseeing Flight
This is the most expensive activity on my list but it's here for good reason. Getting up above the Whistler Valley and experiencing the stunning peaks and ancient glaciers from the air is like no other experience here. Hit up Harbour Air for a sightseeing flight or use it as a one way flight to or from Vancouver to take advantage.
Sneak Up To Joffre Lakes
About 1hr north of Whistler and just north of Pemberton is the world famous Joffre Lakes. This is a network of 3 tiered lakes that each flow into the next, and located just beneath Mt Matier, Joffre Peak and the Matier Glacier make the water incredibly blue. While it's just a short walk to the first lake it's well worth the effort to take on the hike up to Lakes 2 and 3. The views up towards the mountain tops and back down the valley are worth it!
Please be respectful of this area and always carry out what you pack in! The area has had trouble with too many people not respecting this incredible environment, so please if you do go to Joffre please pack out what you pack in!
Watersprite Lake
Another that is a little bit outside of Whistler is Watersprite Lake. This lake is located just outside of Squamish and while the drive in then hike up is tough, the view you are greeted to makes it all worth it.
When the snow melts and the temperature heats up, the whole Sea To Sky region opens up and makes the mountains so much more accessible. On your next trip to Whistler, give some of these activities a go and let me know your thoughts!
