Battling intense heat, including scorching temperatures exceeding 30 degrees, I witnessed the toll it took on fellow runners. Remarkably, my fellow runner, Alex McCann, showcased incredible mental strength as he battled heat stroke, vertigo, and partial blindness, which altered his depth perception. However, fuelled by determination and unwavering support, he persevered without hesitation. I will discuss the mental strategies employed to combat such challenges and the resilience demonstrated by participants in the face of adversity.
