Test Driving The Nikon Z 50

Over the last 4 weeks I've been lucky enough to test drive the Nikon Z 50. The Nikon Z 50 is one of Nikon's newest mirrorless camera's released in October 2019. Being a mirrorless camera it is compact, lightweight and super powerful and is why I was so excited to test it out, see its features and put it through some of my adventures.

Read on below to hear what I really loved about this little unit...

Small & Lightweight

From the moment you pick up the Nikon Z 50, you realise just how much weight and size can be saved when going mirrorless. Weighting in at just 450g, and with both lenses super light, the entire set up was so easy to pack into my bag and hardly make a difference.

Pure Quality

What's even better is that all that mirrorless technology that makes it so light, doesn't sacrifice on picture quality either. With a 20 megapixel APS-C sensor and a EXPEED 6 processor means that when shooting in Raw format, your images are sharp, high quality and ultra versatile.

Share-ability

One of the great improvements on traditional DSLR cameras in the last few years I think, and here on the Z 50, has been the share-ability of your images. With built in blue tooth and wi-fi and using the Snapbridge app, means you can quickly and easily share your images to your phone. From there you can then edit in a photo editing app (I use Adobe Lightroom) then upload to your desired platform. This is fantastic if you're out on the road and would like to keep the fresh new images in the feed.

LCD Touchscreen Monitor Versatility

Coming from the tradition D series screens that were 2 dimensional on the back of the camera, this was a real game changer for me. Having touch screen features with a monitor that can be rotated up to 180° opens up a whole new world of creative options. This can be used really well for selfies (the buttons also go on lock in this mode) but I really liked it to get some of those more engaging angles from down low or up above for flat lays.

Hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts on the new Nikon Z 50. If you're looking to capture amazing quality images (and videos too at up to 4K quality) while out adventuring, this is the perfect camera. As the above images show and just as Nikon say, this is the perfect camera for adventures and wanderers to slip into your bad and capture!
